“I am singing to connect. It’s the way for me to be honest and fragile and hopefully I can get people to be the same”.
The Swedish born singer and songwriter Matilda Lindell has a distinguished sound with her velvet yet powerful voice, blending with American country pop influences and a speck of nordic melancholy. Her up coming EP with ABBA covers is her interpretations of the Swedish pop group’s songs that has become a part of her over the past 10 years while touring the US at major venues across the country including The Hollywood Bowl in LA and Wolf Trap Performing Arts Centre outside of Washington. The music is stripped down versions with lots of emotion.
In Matilda’s earlier original releases you can hear not only influences from ABBA but also from artists like Sara Bareilles, Carol King and Gavin Degraw. Backing up many of Swedens big artists and being part of an a cappella group for many years, you can definitely hear her love for voices in this earlier work through the intriguing vocal arrangements behind the songs.
